Suddenly we have more time to go out for just an overnight, the boat has grown substantially in amenities and comforts. There's more time to do what you want, when you want. Some of you can relate no doubt. No kids!
They're both on summer break from college and working jobs that include weekends. We miss them out there, we've been pretty much glued together on the water for 20 years,... but there's something to be said for this new state. And we're not having any trouble adjusting either.
The boat is suddenly huge! Enormous. Hanging lockers, berths, drawers,....empty! A new luxury.
Often even a weekend took our small pu truck to load on provisions(a two week vacation was a logistical nightmare to load). We've always lived full onboard, especially with lots of fresh food and cooking several meals, but suddenly, it's manageable. A couple trips down to the dock, done. Cooking for two is exotic!
There's actually room in the dinghy. We've even loaded on 2 folding bikes, cockpit lockers are suddenly dieing to be filled.
Suddenly there's more time to just sit and read a book. I think we're sailing even more now, less hurry.
We do have two sailing dogs now but together they don't even come close to the one we sailed with for years, with two babies.
Everybody has room to breath now, and relax. Life is good.
