The center wire stripped out of old Morse control cable scrounged from the boatyard dumpster works well

An idea that sucks.
Hey thanks guys... a few ideas to try. One of these has got to work.
Second that idea...
SS welding wire -- thin guage, easy to bend, rigid enough (she said) ;^)
