... Rocky Mountain lakes. The water is cold, nothing has grown below the surface for thousands or years, the bottom is like concrete, no mud or sand anywhere, my Danforth and Fortress anchors just skip along on the surface. Plenty of chain, but no dig from the (new & sharp) flukes. I anchor an H 12 1/2 (1500 #) and a Nautique ski boat (3500 #) in about 15-20 feet of water that drops off radically from shore to very deep in not much distance. If you're lucky you might snag a tree, but what happens when the wind changes. Winds are generally calm, but t-storms and afternoon winds can gust 20-30 easily in any given afternoon, from any direction, this is mountain weather. The boats are anchored in different locations every weekend, so a mooring is out of the question, although Im not sure a screw would bite, and anything not at least semi-temporary & easy would be of no use. Any suggestions ?
thanks, cheers, John
