can't count the number of times I've watched charter boats
and others doing this in the Med. not from current, but as
soon as the anchor starts down, its 2000 rpms in reverse. Then
they wonder why they can't get a set.
One day, I suggested letting the nice 15 knt seabreeze push them back.
sit back, have a beer, then put some strain on the anchor. after 5 tries
their way, they tried my way. they were fine.
They make a big issue here about mandatory schooling for sailing, but
I think some may have skipped some classes.
