Mystic Seaport is a really nice stop.

We are here for several days waiting for some friends to return so we can have dinner with them. I could stay longer; the boats, replica shops and exhibits are really nice, then there is the town itself, with several nice restaurants, an aquarium right up the road, and more. After Labor day you get a second day's free dockage after your first night. Joining the museum's membership gets you a discount and access to more things, like the Mariner's Lounge where I am sitting in comfort with free, fast Wi Fi.
We like trying diners and local spots for breakfast, and Kitchen Little, a block up the street does it really well.
We hope to be in Port Washington by Saturday, visiting son #2 in NYC, then south again for the winter. Haven't decided whether to cruise the Chesapeake again or head straight down the coast.
The photo is the inside of the last whaleship, the Morgan, undergoing extensive restoration. By the time they are done most of the planking, ribs and ceiling will be new wood, probably ready for another 160 years. They plan to sail the Morgan when they get her back in the water.
