Will corrupt the card, the warranty will be voided, and the copy won't work. It's a "jump out of the plane without a 'chute" situation. Apparently they have an imbedded code that does a test on the serial number. I don't know if it has a counter for each "in and out" read HIDDEN in multiple places on the chip, or what.

I saw some Board traffic somewhere that lamented the fact that others have tried, failed, and been sorry.

Anyway, if your question is whether they can tell what version is on the chip by looking up that number...I would guess so. Isn't that a recent issue on the 1XG.
