Mini saga of technology...

So I've been working my butt off for the last several weeks, back to back 12+ hour days, weekends... just ridiculous hours. (gee, I hope this project "saves" the company). I got out to race 2 Saturdays ago, but otherwise I haven't been to Americas cup, haven't been to my own boat... just work work work.

Well the project is finally complete... I've sent the data off to get it produced... That was Tuesday. (I am actually working this morning, to respond to some production questions).

But Wednesday, well that was the day that I just went into the office to make sure all the fires were out and everything was OK. Left early. Told the admiral... "lets go down to the boat... I'll bring the laptop and DVDs, and we can sit down there, watch the sun go down, then watch movies and drink eggnog." "She says sure, let me grab some snacks and we'll spend the night." Sounds great to both of us... I've been working too hard and we've been like ships passing in the night.

So we get down to the boat just as the sun is setting... It's romantic and quiet, and nice and the nog is flowing.

We walk around a bit and then settle in... after all, we've got snacks.

I set up the computer. Plug the audio into the boat sound system... sounds good. Launch the new loaded DVD player to watch her favorite movie. Oh this is so cozy. How about some more nog.

The software runs for about 5 minutes, then dies. It wants to register... I have no net connection. Shoot.
Well I loaded two DVD programs... so I kick off the other one. Oh... it doesn't work either. Double Shoot. Foiled by technology.

Well the nog is taking hold... we've got a couple books on board. So we snuggle up and read... so much for technology.

Have a good turkey day folks.
