The old stone house on top of Beech Hill(town owned lands open to the public), that is visible for miles out on western Penobscot Bay, guides us into our harbor. Looking past blueberry barrens out over Indian Island light(left bottom) that marks Rockport Harbor and across the Fox Islands(North Haven and Vinalhaven), then further across western Penobscot Bay to Isle au Haut. A new landmark, the wind turbines on Vinalhaven, mark the entrance to the Fox Island Thoroughfare. Looking south out over Rockland and Owlshead. It was a good hike to burn off some steam.
