Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

Ditto to all. Speaking of sailing websites, what other ones do you visit?

I remember when the CWBB dissolved and Phil picked it up. Remember the attempts to bring the website up to the new software? People here balked and it's one of the few like this left(I think)

I do go to the other site (top of the page) to the Ask All Sailors. I post there occasionally and give it a look everyday more or less. I like the contributer forums like Mainesails and Roger(?) who is cruising down the ICW.
I can't seem to get hooked on the Ask All Sailors forum, although it's a good and busy site.

I also go to Cruising Anarchy and post there occasionally. That's had it's ups and downs and occasionally a subject that interests me gets my attention. That too is a good site, I just can't seem to get involved beyond occasional use though. There's not much about the sailing and being on the water that interests me.

I like the Wooden boat forum as I can find help with stuff I need with my part wooden sailboat. But it's all about boat work which takes the back seat to sailing for me. Still it's a great resource and some sailing and Maine coastal stuff bleeds in.

I also visit the Sailnet website. Like the Ask All Sailors, it has a good vibrant bunch and sailing is the theme, but I still don't find it pulling me in to the "community".

Plastic Classic forum is another good one. I've been going there for sometime. During spring or doing winter projects, it's a place I can post what I'm doing or ask questions of the great stuff others post. But I'm a sailor foremost and lose interest in boat projects after season begins.

In the end, the CSBB gives me the most sailing interest content. People here are experienced in sailing and have alot to offer. I especially like to hear from those sailing in other places. That brings in just enough new people to keep things interesting.

But the CSBB seems like one of the least used sites of all(or is it?). It ebbs and flows around topics that draw a crowd so to speak. When something strikes a chord, it can be of high interest to many. Between those topics, it can nearly go comatose. Personally, I don't think it's simply the old posting platform here, but others may think that's more important.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?
