We have LED deck lights, they use very small amounts of power. We also have a mast head tri-color light that is a lot brighter.

On our CB panel I have a Nav lights on/off switch AND a 2 position switch that allows me to select the set (up or down) I want on. The selector switch will not allow me to have both on at the same time.

Been working great for us! I mainly use the tri-color in open water and use the deck lights in close quarters or when I want to conserve power.
