I will read GOB cover to cover, I'll skim CW and SAIL.
I'm getting a little tired of Fatty telling us how much he loves his wife while risking his life in the Red Sea personally; it's pretty clear Elaine & company are getting free junkets to places like Greece & Tonga for charter trips then come home with glowing write-ups; the boats in CW are so far out of sight with what seems to easily be an average half-million price tag, I don't even read the reviews anymore, and even the gear features seem like snake-oil to me. I do like Steve D'Antonio pieces, and I'll save a recipe or two, but other than that, I usually blow through the entire CW issue without one dog-eared page.
I like the Boatworks section of SAIL, that I do find interesting and I find they will have a technical piece here & there that pertains to whatever it is I am considering, like varnish, maintenance and so on.
But with GOB, I usually will dog-ear a dozen or so pages of each magazine and use it for reference quite a bit, I learn a lot from each subscription, I don't use it for entertainment, the content is more relevant to what I am wanting. A project or two every year on my boat was initiated from this magazine. And I like their customers who advertise. Of course, my boat is 25 years old, certainly not worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, she is well cared for and every year gets a lot of upgrades, so GOB is really good for me, I really do enjoy the magazine ... thanks Jerry & Karen.
Cheers, John
