One problem I can see creeping in though...

You are totally public and don't mind who sees your blog, postings, or other info (which is nice, because I really enjoy reading your blog!). And there are a lot of people like you. I say "to each their own" and have no problem with it. I think each person should be able to be (legally) private or open, as they choose.

BUT...

I see a phenomenon creeping in whereby, since some people are happily "public," and declare "I have nothing to hide," it starts to imply that anyone who does value their privacy, therefore, must have something to hide. Not that YOU are implying that, or even think it, but just the general flow of "them." There starts to be an idea that "nothing to hide" = doing nothing wrong, which then contrasts to private = must have something to hide = must be up to no good.

Reading that article about employers and Facebook, one starts to wonder what "they" will say if a person has no Facebook account to show them. Something to hide?
