The tempered glass fit a rabbet cut from the outside.

So the interior is just a clean step Westie.

I cut that port trim a few years ago when the old stuff gave up the ghost. Here are the port trim parts, that hold the glass(with bedding compound and screws), ready to install. I liked the look of that original detail so I enhanced it a bit by cutting a slightly deeper profile, that is now proud of the cabin by 5/16" + I know, a lot of work, but I have a bandsaw and don't get to use it much.

An easier method is to cut the rabbet, bed the glass, and then finish with a fillet of a removable compound and paint it. That looks good too and is a watertight method that's easily renewed(and it will need that eventually).
