Raymarine WIND instrument failure ... Charlie Stillman, are you out there ...

... following up on your post couple months ago Charlie, my ST60 WIND instrument is not registering any data. I also have the ST60 MULTI and the Wind Chapter doesn't even show up, skips right over that from Speed to Heading; and no Wind information coming to the Plotters. I am just now commissioning my mast, which was stepped the other day. I had damage to the spreaders caused by the yard, so there was some fabrication work being done on the mast last week, it's possible they nicked a wire although all my mast wiring is inside an aluminum conduit, so protected. The anemometer base & cable, Raymarine part A28162, were new last year, w/two different locations of wire ties masthead for strain relief. The Anemometer bird is not new, but it seems fine, everything worked fine last year.

I am getting no readings on the Display, only ---'s, and the needle doesn't move when powered up. When I meter the J-box connections (crimped and/or soldered ring terminals) at the base of the mast with the instruments on, all my readings (red-shield, blue-shield, green-shield, yellow shield) are all under 1v, range between .866v to .23v).

When you were troubleshooting, were you getting good voltage readings (8v red-shield, etc. like the Raymarine link says > http://www.c36ia.com/files/ST50-60%20Wind%20Troubleshooting%20with%20Masthead%20pin-outs.pdf) at your connections at the base of the mast, BEFORE the run up the mast ?

I'm trying to figure out how to troubleshoot and isolate where the problem might be ...

thanks, cheers, John
