We have had 2 Macbook computers aboard. One mine and the other the Admirals. We have an Alpha external 1/2 watt wifi adaptor with an 8 DB gain antenna that we hoist on a flag halyard to the spreaders. Works great sometimes getting more than a mile of fast Internet.

Just purchased an IPad 3 GSM version. The 'data' is turned off and wifi is on showing 1 transmission. ( a local hotel here in the Abacos ). I connect with the IPad and have really fast speeds. As fast as the speeds we have on our home wifi system bit,,,, neither MacBook can connect either on the internal card or the Alpha. They see the wifi but can't connect.

I'm posting this from the IPad as it'sthe only thing that connects.

Anybody out there know what's going on?
