It's lookin good, and well written.
I remember that trip on 81 -- did it many times, down as far as near the south end of WV, in VA. I would use 81 to get from Bluefield WV (would connect to it after driving over the mountains near Big Bend Tunnel where legend says John Henry raced the steam engine) to the PA Dutch Country (Lancaster area). BTW -- the WV Turnpike between Charleston and Bluefield was so dangerous (with the steep grades and sharp curves it had the most deaths per mile in the US) the rest areas sold t-shirts saying "I survived the West Virginia Turnpike".
Anyway -- I agree about the beauty of the area. It's incredible. Your comments about the speed limits brought back my memory of comments from the truckers on the CB radio back in those days (the 70's). They called Maryland "the Commie state" because the troopers fined the truckers for anything they could. Apparently Rt 81 was viewed by the MD state police as a "revenue opportunity" back in those days.
