Independent Panel review... "Boat Ran Aground."

This is the finding of by the U.S. Sailing Association’s review board. Just in case you were wondering.

"An independent review panel investigating the accident that killed four sailors in the 2012 Newport to Ensenada Race in April has concluded that their boat, the Aegean, ran aground on one of the Coronado Islands.

The findings by the U.S. Sailing Association’s review board were released Tuesday, but a final report is not expected until the end of July."

"Board members collected the Aegean’s tracking data, interviewed race organizers and conferred with the Coast Guard before concluding that the 37-foot Hunter 376 sailboat became grounded on Mexico’s North Coronado Island, according to U.S. Sailing spokesman Jake Fish."
