In Response To: careening C400 ()

on 40 ft cruising sailboats this is routinely done. Whenever they are hauled here in the States, they stand on their keel mainly, with jack stands used to keep them from falling over. When they are hauled on a hydraulic trailer they are stood on their keel nearly exclusively (with two jack stands at the very rear) to get them off the trailer. If you truck a boat it will be resting on the keel with braces and jacks mainly to keep it on the truck.

You may want to check as the tide ebbs that you are balanced sufficiently fore and aft. On most boats, it looks like they might go over forward, but this is often an illusion - usually the CG is well aft of the center of the keel - so be aware that it may tip aft. On my boat (45' pretty normal hull proportions) the CG is within a foot of the fin keel trailing edge.
