Good idea. A little fog lights up the VHF airwaves.

Big ships had the most trouble, a tanker captain got pretty testy with somebody that didn't have their radio on. I appreciate tankers doing regular securite' calls though. Then this Navy ship at the Rockland Lobster festival had a hell of a time keeping boats out of their 500 foot safety zone. When the fog finally lifted, I'm not sure there was 500 feet to go by without going over the breakwater.

Then the usual complaints, "Do you know you are invisible to radar?", I heard someone bitterly complain to another boat, no doubt without the vhf on. Who's problem is that anyway?

I like the fog when the engine is off and the sails are driving. It feels safe to me being able to hear and see within a safe distance to take action if another boat approaches. This schooner came out of the lifting haze, we sailed close by each other to wave hello.
