Maine Boatshow in Rockland.

Rockland is full of artists as is any good boat show. This boatshow, like Rockland, is a good mix of about everything. It's an evolved show, power, sail, glass, wood, the coast, Vespas, etc. I wanted to see this prototype of sailing much faster.

"Do you know the keel comes out of the water on that thing?", a friend said with eyes as wide as soup bowls. "I don't know about you, but I want my keel to stay under the boat"....he added looking at the bow headed for the Time Out Pub.

While my nephews ran an RC lobsterboat around, Nat from Hamilton Marine joined us. His daughter Molly was bringing his boat down from Belfast(up actually). I told him not to worry, I just got my stantion put back on that my son laid flat on the deck during a docking maneuver. Boatyards can fix anything.

I didn't take many shots, but this boat caught my eye. Being a sailor, I imagined how all the sailboats would sail, from sailing dorys to the ADVENTURESS that was docked up. This one felt like it sailed well in my mind.

And this one too, a CW Hood 32. It was my favorite sailboat at the show. It sails very well, you can tell just looking at it.

There were quite a few motorboats, and I guess I can say it here,... I don't remember any of them. Except we all liked this one. sort of an African Queen thing going on.

Come to think of it, I do remember one motorboat, GIZMO. Ben Ellison of Panbo invited us all, even my nephews covered in icecream, onboard for a tour.(try that with a new million dollar 50'er at the docks)

He tests electronics so his helm looks like the electronics aisle at Hamilton. What a great tour we got of his boat and the new chartplotters which we're in the market for. He's a sailor turned motorboater so he has removed his generator, has a gas cookstove, and installed a large bank of solar panels on the back of GIZMO.

He wins the best boat of the show award by me.
