I left Lake Champlain on the last day of May, and intended to go to Waukegon to get the boat hauled & prepped for shipping to Everett, WA, but it looks like I'm going to end up being in Manitowoc for at least a week. The Waukegon yard doesn't prep boats for transport in October because they're busy hauling local boats, and I don't want to worry about having to make it there in time if there are big winds and waves. The fun part of the trip is over; it's basically a delivery at this point, and it will only cost a few hundred more to have the boat shipped from here. I'd probably end up spending that in marina fees waiting out bad weather if I go on, and I have people here who've offered to help me get her ready to ship. Manitowoc is a pretty cool little town that's doable by bike, and I'm told there's not a lot near the marina in Waukegon. So I'm going to sleep on it overnight and probably call the transport company in the morning. I'm grateful to Brian Woloshin for putting me in touch with his Chicago-based brother, who has been a generous source of much valuable information alongthe way--thanks!
