Welcome to Annapolis

There is still a good bit of room in both Back Creek and Spa Creek. The boats already here are here for the Show.

Some things to note: for many years there has been federal regulations restricting anchoring off the Naval Academy wall to those with advance permission from the Academy Superintendent (check your charts - it's there). The current Annapolis Harbormaster doesn't enforce federal regulations but the pump-out boat has stopped serving boats anchored there. You're better off in South Anchorage.

Similarly, the City won't pump out boats on the US Navy moorings in Weems Creek (which is outside City limits anyway, so pretty decent service to cover those waters anyway).

The cove just upstream of Mears on Back Creek that is mentioned in the Chesapeake Bay Boating article is problematic. There have been issues over the last few years of people anchoring so close that slipholders can't get in or out of their slips. That's just rude. There is a 75' stand-off requirement - please honor it. Enforcement is being stepped up.

There was a move to institute no-anchoring zones that was held off last year. If too many people anchor too close that will surely result in another effort.

The area between Port Annapolis and Jabins is the scene of a lot of dragging. Back down hard to be sure you are really set. Locals rescue dragging boats every year.
