If it is suitable for your boat I'd go for it. The ability to pivot the bow also helps you direct the boat in reverse.
FYI -- the thruster becomes less ineffective as you speed up, and is more effective if you have less than 1 or 2 knots boat speed. Basically the more effective technique is to pivot then use engine power, but not at the same time unless you're gentle with the throttle. Think of the thruster as a positioning control, not a steering control.
Word of caution -- a friend who has a thruster had the relay stick, and it wouldn't turn off. Overheated the very expensive motor and he nearly banged into other boats nearby. Make sure you install some type of battery cut-off switch that is quickly accessible from the helm. (Same is true if you have electric winches. A stuck button switch is potentially dangerous.)
