Hi Greg,
As of 1800 Tuesday, there was a Mandatory Evacuation imposed in my neighborhood due to this second storm... Needless to say, I wasn't gonna leave...
So, I put my front door plywood cover back up, parked my rental car on higher ground down the road, and retired to the boat... Total blackout mode, taped over ports that don't have shades, etc, and kicked back with a box of wine to watch the election returns the old-fashioned way - via an antenna hoisted in the rig, I'm able to pick up a few network affiliates from NYC and Philly...
The police were pretty serious about this deal, they really combed the neighborhood, patrolling around with searchlights, etc... Making the move from the boat back to the house seemed akin to a scene from a flick like THE GREAT ESCAPE, timing the run from the tunnel to the woods between the sweep of the searchlight on the guard tower... (grin)
This whole deal is starting to get old... We were close to having power restored in my neighborhood prior to this storm, but I'm afraid the 5-6 inches of heavy wet stuff we got last night will be a setback... When your backstay is coated to the masthead with a 2" collar of snow/ice, you've gotta figure that brought more trees and power lines back down... Fortunately, along my part of the coast, we wound up getting very little wind out of this one...
best regards,
Jon
