Looks like they are coming in with rough seas and a strong ebb.

In some of the shots you can see debris being carried out by the ebb. That is always a bad idea. On the Columbia River we can wait for the tide to turn and it is a whole different ride. If Larry is right about New Zealand... I think I see "Riverton" as the hailing port on one of the boats. Google Earth shows 3 large estuaries at Riverton, Invercargill and Bluff.

So those guys got themselves into a pickle but their tough little boats made it through. I did like the place where one of the guys is ducking outside the cabin to take some photos or videos of his buddy. Gotta love the Kiwis.
