Walking the dogs down to the harbor, I could feel it,....spring, it's coming. You can hear it too in the sounds of the birds around you. And in the boatyard, things begin to heat up for the spring launches soon to come. Spring is exciting down here!
This is part(off Rockport Marines facebook page) of the new scheme that will make the shoal draft boat being built inside go from 4' to 2'8" with the board up. I assume the shorter cord of the high aspect centerboard will fit the shallow profile between cabin sole and bottom of this interesting "keel". Makes sense, the less protrusion in a stub keel, the better. Stub keels in keel/centerboard boats don't add much if any lift, but they do add turbulence.
The only downside to this I see is less weight down low. But it's a daysailer so there's no reason to consider doing 360's in a hurricane.
