First, it sailed great, which is major considering I don't think most cruising cats sail very well. I would want to own one, despite the forward cockpit.
The thing I don't get about the cockpit forward is you are "where you're exposed to the elements and seas" and "You also have a door right behind you that leads to the shelter of the dog house". I can just imagine sailing at 10-20 knots on a close reach when it's blowing like stink, and the windward hull is throwing sheets of water into the cockpit, and you don't want to open the door and let all the water inside.... and if you're inside already -- you don't want to open the door to go forward and shorten sail. I guess the tactic would be to bear off downwind long enough to open and shut the door.
I like the idea of having a dodger (or bulkhead) to hide behind when the weather turns to crap, or even in nice but chilly weather.
PS -- we don't get much spray from the windward ama in a tri because it's generally out of the water, though it might catch an occasional wave top. As for sitting exposed on the aft end of each hull, I don't care for that configuration either.
