My favorite part of the Maine Boatbuilders Show, is where it is.

The old rambling industrial building is fascinating. I haven't been to this show in 20 years. It's changed in that time, but the building hasn't. I love the old mill windows. UNCAS wasn't bad either.

Between countless boats of all kinds, it's all the stuff wedged between that makes this show unique. There's a guy demonstrating anchors(miniatures he's built) in beds of sand and gravel. Dare to compare yours to the latest? This old Seagull outboard fits into the timeless scheme. Like a tombstone, finally quiet,...

It's a a bigger and better show today. Buy a ready to sail glass Heresshoff 12 1/2 show special sailaway, 40K, or grab a sailaway J 70 outside for 50k. But take the time to get lost in the details of boats like this one.

Artisan Boatworks of Rockport had the best exhibit. Here's the young builder with a couple of their current completions.
