Yes, especially after going back to school at 28

He was installing hardwood floors, doing drugs and gollowing the Greatful Dead. One day he says to me that he hates his life and wants to go to 'University California Maritime in Vallejo so he goes to a comunity college, gets enough credits and grades to qualify and enrolls. 3 years later he's a licensed marine engineer and a US Naval Reserve Officer.

He had help with some money but he also applied for loans and any assistance he could get from the gov. He just paid off his student loans last month and bought a small condo to come home to.

He can still be a jerk but I'm really proud of him. I wouldn't have been able to do it.
