In the photo it looks like they are both on port tack and Amorita is windward... but in the snippet of video it appears that the other boat was overtaking and should have given way, but pushed Amorita out off course and then crushed her.

Reminds me of a race locally where a schooner raked across the committee boat with their bow sprit and took out all the cabin windows. I watched it happen in an odd slow motion "did that just happen" kind of way.
