I think I have a dead or "wounded" Adler/Barbour ColdMachine. This is an older system, using R-12 as the refrigerant. (that alone dooms it). I recall it has worked a couple of times, but not well. We were able to make ice with it once, using these icecube trays that sit in the evaporator. But it doesn't seem to get cold any more.

It draws about 7-8 amps running, and the blower seems to work. But the compressor barely gets warm... telling me that this thing is not compressing anything. There is a large heatsink on one whole side of the compressor and I somewhat expected this to become quite warm... and it does not.

The evaporators never really chill.

I suspect I should just pull this out and get a whole new system such as the Engel Conversion Kit.

But back to trouble shooting... just in case... anyone have any suggestions? Any idea if I can use the existing copper tube run and just replace the compressor and evap units?
