There has been a lot of talk about the Torqeedo.

We are avid PortaBoat owners. In the past, we used a To-hot-to 3.5 HP 2 stroke outboard. That would plane our 8 foot PB with just me in it.

When we were at the Strictly Sail show in Oakland we talked to a Torqeedo dealer. He was very nice and after the show brought the 1003 model over for us to test. It would be a GREAT motor, but fell just a bit short of planing our PB. Plenty of torque, just slightly under the ability to plane our PB. Our To-Hot-To is still good for another year or 2, so, when it goes belly up, I hope they have one that will plane us.
