SUP's and oil slicks.

Those mystery, random oil slicks on harbors. I see them occasionally but when I consider I just made my first mooring hook up after the shake down sail, I wonder how many float by on the wind and tide? We usually find fishing boats are the culprit, but there were only a handful of sailboats upwind and current from my mooring.

I saw the slick approaching on the incoming tide and 10 knot breeze, about a hundred yards to the south. The slick, a floating rectangle between me and the red boat, was about 100 feet wide and 200 feet long. The shape suggested it was laid down in the time cycle(several minutes?), of an automatic bilge pump.

Depressing for me to see from the cockpit of a sailboat but sadly, not that rare even today. Then I imagined what it must be like to paddle into it, on a SUP.
