weeks later I have a picture of her in Munich at October Fest standing on a table in one of the beer halls. She has a big beer mug in one hand and her cane in the other. She said it saved her life. The operation, not the beer. We had been cruising in Mexico for two seasons and she was about at the end of her rope. We returned to San Diego for the operation and she recovered while we were still living aboard. She said it was better then in a house because she had so many hand holds to help her get around for the first couple of weeks. We had her out on the dock walking up and down with her "walker" so often that it wore off the feet. I ended up replacing them with tennis balls. We had the trip to Europe planned for some time and there was no way she was going to miss it. We did another two seasons in Mexico after that and we will be heading back down next year. I wouldn't recommend a road trip like we did that soon but you should be up and around in no time. I'd say in 3 months you could be doing foredeck. Good Luck
