We decided we needed to cut down on expenses so we will 'suffer' and go out of St. Maarten. Financially a bad time, and we had to put it together too quickly. The boat we have a place on is heading to New Zealand, Australia, Tonga, Fiji, Thailand and other cool places in the next few years, so we will start planning (and saving) for a different trip. We have space with Tradewinds Catamarans. It is pretty cool. I thought I would be bored having someone else do the sailing, but after a few days of being fed, bartendered, captained etc. I was able to unwind and enjoy. Certainly not the same as when we sail our boat (Freedom 40/40-ReJoyce) but I have all the responsibility on our boat. Once a year it is nice to let someone else do the worrying. Many years ago I was sailing with my first wife and several of her friends. She looked at me and asked why I was the only one looking serious. I responded that everyone on board was my responsibility. That is still the way it is on my boat (two wives and three boats later). So the relaxation is good once in a while. In the meant time we will take off for a quick four day trip over the fourth. Fireworks in Newport RI anyone?
