Yes, not conventional -- but they "hung-in" there

Wrong boat, not enough experience, wrong equipment, etc.

But they didn't bail as fast as a lot of people would.

That boat will float-up somewhere and could sail again -- just not accross oceans.

The rudder hardware he was "fixing" tells you how light the boat was constructed. It looked as light as a Hobie Cat (which ways a fraction of the weight.

Anyway, sad to see someones dreams bashed (and have to deal with the personal financial loss) -- but no one died, a rescue crew did it's job, anyway...

Odd that they didn't try cruise down to LA or San Diego -- just to get their "legs".
