Big day tomorrow

The Islander was officially sold a couple of weeks ago, however with the buyer living out of town things progressed a little slower than I had hoped. The official signing of the paperwork is going to happen tomorrow. He will be moving the boat to the deeper water of the marina next door and commuting here on weekends. (many people do). That means our slip is finally open.

The new boat is scheduled to launch at 1pm tomorrow, I'm freaking out trying to get everything done. It has been raining for two weeks straight and almost every day for the last two months. The plan last night was to change the oil and filter on the Yanmar. I got the filter off with great difficulty and swapped that out. I could hear the thunder but I checked the weather radar before going down to the boat and it said everything was going South..........it didn't. I started closing ports as the first raindrops started coming down and heard what I thought was someone weed-whacking, not unusual with all the landscaping where the boat/cradle is. Turned out to be sizzling, not whizzing......the huge power pole in front of the brokerage and two boats away from me was on fire. Traffic was stopped, people were taking pictures with their phones and I was covered with dirty oil. I got down just as the fire department arrived, called the broker to let him know, he freaked out. Then the storm hit, according to the news this morning we got nearly 4" of rain in an hour, roads were flooded, the winds were clocked at 65mph (ripped part of the roof off Cleveland City Hall before it got to us). Never did get the oil changed.

Going to be a busy morning tomorrow.
