We have had a TackTick wind speed/direction instrument since 2008.
It has worked quite well, but sometimes fails to read.
Our 20 m high mast puts the transmitter further from the receiver than TackTick suggest, and the receiver is mounted on our aluminium binnacle, contrary to Tackticks preferece.
Until a few weeks ago, we have been able to start it up by taking the receiver to the mast, then replacing it on the binnacle, when it would run all day.
Now, it runs for a few hours then quits.
We are in Arctic Norway, with 24 hoour daylight, but little sun for the past few weeks. I am wondering whether the battery in the masthead unit may be at the end of its life.
The battery in the receiver shows full charge.
Any comments or suggestions?
