Sounds like they're having a great time. From Fiona and Iain on RUFFIAN, a Sadler 34.
"Many many thanks for all your efforts finding us a ball in Portland and all your top tips on many of the great spots to go in Maine. We spent two nights on the ball in Falmouth Foreside and this gave great access to Portland where we finally managed to find propane and supermarkets, although they were a bit of a hike away (the Market had great produce, but at a cost, so we got on our scooters and went up to Shaws). Please can you pass our sincere thanks onto the owner.
Having now filled Ruffian with vital supplies we have been able to start exploring this amazing coastline and we have been simply bowled over by it. The scenery is stunning, the navigation interesting and the options are endless. We have quickly become fond of all the colourful unmarked cans that are everywhere, they certainly make us keep our wits about us.
We spent last night at Snow island in Quahog Bay and wow what an introduction. We thought that we’d pretty much reached the pinnacle, but today in The Basin it was surpassed. We anchored in flat calm waters and our only company is that of a bald eagle. The reflection of the moon in the water is sensational and we can even see the stars in the water.
If things carry on getting better and better like this then we have no idea how we’ll manage the wonders that we have in front of us. We think that in the weeks to come, turning around will be one of the most difficult things we will have done on our trip to date."
