Nat Howe at Hamilton Marine saved my Garmin CP.

It's 12-13 years old, so I figured it was toast when it stopped "aquirring satellites" I googled all over and could only find manual reset stuff. Never thought it would be the antenna(what's to wear out?), but Nat thought it was. $60 for a replacement. I plugged it in tonight onboard, and satellites aligned and I won't be navigating by chart anymore. It was nostalgic, but I prefer a CP these days

Instructions said you can mount the antenna under fiberglass, so I checked it. It did get a good signal, but the bars grew and all filled in when I took the antenna to the stern rail where I mounted the old one. I was hoping not to run the coax through the boat, but that convinced me, I must revisit the small dark areas of my boat.

Thanks Nat!
