I stumbled on this product today online, and think its pretty cool. Obviously not as sophisticated as Torqeedo but also about half the price and weight. Probably about half the power too.
One thing that appeals to me about electric outboards is that I've had numerous episodes with stale gasohol and phase separation, despite religious use of fuel treatments and stabilizer. The Torqueedo is expensive and a theft magnet that I'd be reluctant to leave at a dinghy dock. This unit is cheap enough and light enough to be kept as a "spare" for my aging outboard, it could be cable-locked to the boat along with the battery in a locked tool box. Made in USA also.
