Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

They had some classic plastic at the Boat show yesterday.

The Hinckley B40 had some lookers even in the rain. I love these boats, talk about endurance. I found it almost surreal that just around the corner of the 50+ year old B40, the new Hinckley picnic boat had nobody talking to the reps. That's a beauty too and there's no reason to pound Hinckley going to the power boat market. A Sabre 42 is right next door, the market doesn't want their sailboats today. There was a new Catalina sailboat, I think the only production "cruising" type of sailboat on display.

Just ahead of the B40 at the docks was this 1957 Block Island 40 recently totally refurbished at local Dark Harbor Boatyard. With the last decade flat for new sailboats, yards in our area have been doing more work like this. I found these few old boats at the docks(there was a restored Cape Dory 33, nice) very interesting to see up close. The motorboats bore me, but they're the major force at the docks.
