Max thank you for this. That is why I'm wondering about a replacement---a rebuild would be $1000 (a boat unit), but for how long. Except for the rebuild in Miami (Ft. Lauderdale, actually) this tranny has been on the boat since 1982, so it has had a good run. Now, and I can't find a price, so how much did you pay? I hope you don't mind such a blunt question.
