It'll probably go Southwest as soon as I get out there, but I'm a sucker for a good sail! So Cape Cod it is for a sailing vacation. We love Maine all summer, add stealing a couple extra weeks of summer down south, aka-"endless summer cruise", has always been a good deal for us.
We plan to sail alongside our friends Fiona and Iain on RUFFIAN http://www.sailblogs.com/member/s34ruffian/?xjMsgID=286425 , who are moored alongside Xmas in Rockport Harbor. They're headed South to the Caribbean for the winter.
Not boasting, but Fiona and Iain, avid hikers and sailors, have found Maine the absolute highlight of the east coast of the US, and are already planning a return-straightline back to Rockport, in the spring.
Half the fun now for a Sunday dawn departure from Rockport, is watching the weather forecast unfold, planning the sail configurations in my head, reefs-when-how many-sail trim, sunset on the Gulf, best course for seas and winds,... what to cook for supper off New Hampshire,...
