Had a cruise planned with a friend this week. We were supposed to go to Cuttyhunk on Thursday, but a late start had us stop at Newport. While in town for dinner we saw 8-9 12 meters. After asking we found out that the 12 meter North Americans were starting on Friday. So, we decided to take a look. Incredible! We were the only sailboat there (other than the 12 meters) in about 15-18 knots of wind on the East passage. We were able to stay close to the race, going back and forth across the start/finish while staying out of their way. We had great sailing ourselves doing 6-7 knots on the bay. Great photo ops at the start, tacking duels and spinnaker take downs. For the early AC we climbed the rocks at Fort Getty but it was crazy to be on the water. This was an amazing day. Winds were very light yesterday and we didn't see the boats. Pictures to come on Wednesday (and probably a lot of Wednesdays to come).
