video: A tour of s/v Southern Cross (Dickerson 41)

Hi Everyone,

I visited Don and D aboard their cruising boat 'Southern Cross' in March of 2013. Don and D are the Ocean Cruising Club port captains for Oriental, North Carolina. Their boat Southern Cross is a 41 foot long, full keel wooden sailboat designed by Ernest Tucker, and built by Dickerson Boatbuilders in Maryland in 1974. Her hull is made from mahogany strip planks that are glued and nailed together. They are fastened to steam bent white oak frames with bronze fasteners. Southern Cross was used as the 'plug' to create a mold for producing fiberglass versions of the Dickerson 41.

She's a really cool cruising boat and Don and D are inspiring cruisers. If you're interested in checking out the video, then I hope you enjoy the tour!

As always I'd love to hear what anyone thinks of the video which may help me improve on my 'cruising life' story telling documentary making.

Many thanks, and happy sailing,

Drake (editing video aboard s/v 'Paragon' (Westsail 42) in Reykjavik, Iceland where it's 28 degrees F and getting colder. Thank god for our Little Cod wood stove.)
