"Back-ordered" a few weeks ago until publication it came today. Same old format and still a great value. They never took up my suggestion to print on waterproof paper or at least a few blank pages for notes but plod on figuring why mess with success. In 2012 they had "20 Questions for a rainy day" . My 2013 is on the boat so I don't remember what the teasers were. Thus year there are two questions designed to "provoke discussion."
Here is the first one--edited by me.
"Your 40 foot sloop (sails furled) with 6 foot draft has run hard aground on a sandy shoal at the entrance to an unfamiliar harbor. On board is your 40 year old son who used to be a college tackle, and your 11 year old Granddaughter. Its 6PM and all the boatyards are closed in the harbor. You consult Edridge and find there is a 5 foot tidal range and dead low is at 11PM. The boat has a 10* list to starboard and winds at 10-15 kts are coming over the port beam. Your Granddaughter is texting her mother (who thinks you are dangerous to begin with) that you hit something, she wants to go home is hungry and the boat is "slanting" and she is cold. You have a dink with a 5 hp engine two anchors and plenty or rode. How can you make the boat heel further to lift the keel off the bottom--is this wise? What method can you use to get the boat to move astern.
PS. Larry--I owe you a call--thanks.
