I own a few Bebi Owl lights and they've been great as deck level anchor lights. Very bright, and low draw. People ask me about them. I was very disappointed to learn that Michael had to close his business (and it worries me a bit that they went so quiet).
Please see the link below. From the web site:
"With the sad demise of Bebi Electronics of Fiji, we have decided to start an "open source" project to resurrect the Bebi Owl. The goal is to offer a replacement for the Owl anchor light taking advantage of the latest technology, while keeping the price and quality in line with the original Owl light.
Bebe-electronics manufactured the Bebi LED anchor light, based out of Fiji, for over 10 years. Regrettably, due to the political situation in Fiji, Michael and Kendra stopped production in September 2013. Although, similar in appearance, the internal circuitry and component selection FrankenBebi and Bebi LED are completely different. The FrankenBebi circuit is completely redesigned, from the ground up, with out copying or reverse-engineering the original Bebi LED design. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery and the goal of the FrankenBebi project is to continue offering an outstanding and much valued product to the cruising community.
We plan to offer the FrankenBebi in three versions.
◾A complete, ready to install FrankenBebi
◾Build your own FrankenBebi Kit with parts and instructions. (Igor not included)
◾An open source list of parts we use to assemble the FrankenBebi free to those who want to figure it out and/or modify it for themselves."
