These peculiar old boats, Alden Challengers, lure buyers. There aren't many and they don't draw a premium price today(like most boats in this market), but when one goes up for sale, regardless of state of repair, there's always someone that wants one. 52 of the same designed hull and deck finished in the UK, all shipped off and finished differently at several yards around the world. My boat was finished in Denmark at the Paul Molich Yard in 1961, still operating today.
Here's a sister ship that was for sale in the UK. The owner in the UK just closed and joined our tiny owners website. He's so excited! I think he got a good one too. On survey, the cockpit showed some rot(mine is serving notice,...) so the seller reduced the price by a big portion of the cost of a boatyard to rebuild it. Fair deal all around. There's so much about this boat below, that he doesn't know yet(I see several areas that I know from experience, need attention). His finished at the LeCompte yard in 1960.
He'll be very happy with his 'new' boat, I can tell by his enthusiasm. Most people keep these for a long time. He bought a good boat for a very fair price(settled at about 50k, USD).
