One of the coldest winters I ever spent was 10 days in Miami ...

between Christmas and just after New Years, anchored between Hibiscus and Palm Islands, just east of the bridge, 2009-10. It sucked. Was somewhere between 28 and 40 every day, breaking records daily, all kinds of dead fish floating around because the water got too cold. Blowing from the north, couldn't move. Finally got out of there on January 7, it was 40 degrees when we left at 4:30AM and blowing 15-20 from the NW. Went straight to Shroud Cay, had a great sail across the Stream, wasn't that bad. I was surprised, but with the wind NW, and the Stream NE, the waves didn't pile up and the wind on the quarter. Haven't been back since. Nice once we got to the Bahamas. Cheers, John
